The Quebec Fair Trade Month coordinating committee recognized the work of the fair trade actors in Quebec, who, by their work and involvement in the North as well as their support for small producers in the South, are strengthening the fair trade movement in Quebec City.
The Pioneer: Engineers Without Borders – Université Laval Section
The Pioneer Award was presented to Engineers Without Borders – Université Laval Section.
Through their actions in there community, the pioneer is the first to take a big step towards fair trade in Quebec. The laureate of this category has taken unprecedented actions to support the fair trade movement in Quebec.
Engineers Without Borders – Section Université Laval has been working for a few years to make Laval University a fair trade designated campus.
Innovation: IGA Pierre Jobidon
The Innovation Award was presented to IGA Pierre Jobidon.
Through their innovative actions, the laureate of this category has demonstrated the creation of new approaches for the development and maintenance of fair trade in Quebec.
IGA Pierre Jobidon makes many fair trade products available in his grocery store.
The awareness award was presented to AVES.
Through its awareness-raising activities, the laureate of this category has been able to sensitize new audiences to fair trade.
AVES organizes international internships, one of whose objectives is to raise awareness about the issues and challenges of fair trade and got involved in the Quebec Fair trade Town initiative.
Involvement: Équiterre Quebec Action Group
The award was presented to the Équiterre Quebec Action Group.
Through its involvement in the Quebec fair trade movement, the laureate of this category has demonstrated his passion and commitment to fair trade in recent years by standing out in his community.
Équiterre Quebec Action Group has been involved in updating the directory of fair trade products available in Quebec for the Quebec Fair Trade Town project.
Cooperation: Patricia Verreault
The award was presented to Patricia Verreault.
By her actions in a Southern country, the laureate of this category has been able to support one or more groups of small producers in their involvement for fair trade. The laureate has made a real impact in a cooperative in the South.
Patricia Verreault has been involved as a 2015 Fair Trade Advisor for NAVTI Foundation Canada. She convinced a 105 member cooperative to begin the process of becoming fair trade.
Entrepreneurship: Angèle Aubin
The entrepreneurship award was presented to Angèle Aubin.
Through its social entrepreneurship, the laureate of this category has been able to promote fair trade products and to promote them.
Angèle Aubin founded l’Auberge l’Autre Jardin and the Equimonde store.
